Dr. Angela Donohue

She/Her

Director, Psychologist

Angela completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of Melbourne. Her thesis explored adolescents’ attitudes to and experiences of living through the war in Croatia. The research found that individuals who could turn to others for support and managed to find “meaning” from their experiences fared better after surviving the trauma of war. Since then, Angela has had her own family of 4 children with her husband and has learned much from being a mum to complement her academic studies of psychology and families. Angela has worked as a Group Program facilitator of Parenting, Resilience and Anxiety-focussed programs.

Angela has also worked with adolescents and young adults for Headspace, assisting young people with a broad range of presentations, such as Anxiety, Depression, Non-suicidal self-Injury, OCD, School-related challenges and other issues. She has worked in a Family Counselling capacity for a Not-For-Profit organisation, working with children, adolescents and families in a systemic family therapy approach. Using child-focussed approaches, Angela aims to assist parents to identify and address their children’s needs, to improve communication styles, develop better routines, and help them along the journey of being a parent.

Psychology services for children,
adolescents and adults

Parents are always the best judge of how their child is travelling, and know when their little one needs professional help. And that’s where My Tribe come in, to work with you, the parent to help understand your child’s behaviour and learn ways to help your child through what they are experiencing.

Younger children may need the help of a psychologist for many reasons. They may have troubles with friends, difficulties controlling their emotions, and a range of other developmental or behavioural issues. We can help your child with friendships, anxiety, perfectionism, emotional regulation and other social, emotional and psychological challenges.

Living in a Neurotypical world can be overwhelming for Neurodivergent Children, we can support you and your child in navigating some of the environmental stressors, and assist with your goals and frequently work with children under NDIS funding. Talk to us about a range of options, including school-based visits, walking therapy with Kobe and other options.

For many adolescents, navigating the challenges of high school, friendships and significant physical changes and sexual maturation can leave them feeling alone, vulnerable, fearful and even invisible.

We aim to help these young people find themselves. We want to help them learn to love the skin they are in and the person they are becoming and help them “find their Spark” – what drives them, and along the way help them identify the people who will be their tribe.

Evidence suggests that Early Intervention in many issues that adolescents present with is key, particularly with Non-suicidal Self Injury (Self Harm), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and other psychological issues. I provide effective interventions to help your adolescent in a supportive, non-judgemental and accepting environment and help parents to support their child.

I strongly believe that your Psychological health is tied in with your physical health, social relationships, your work and overall sense of meaning and purpose. Life is busy. We know that sometimes people experience relentless and intense feelings of low mood, lack of motivation, feeling overwhelmed.

This can lead to you feeling lost, helpless and like there is something wrong with you. I aim to help you integrate all aspects of your life to create space for living well and thriving. Whether you need help navigating parenting, you are feeling completely overwhelmed, you need help with relationships or you are struggling with Anxiety, Depression, or other Psychological issues, there is help.

A range of therapies that can assist, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focussed Therapy, and Solution-focussed approaches amongst others.
